Auckland WasteWater Treatment Plant

FIBREGLASS ODOUR CONTROL GRP TANK COVERS
Mangere WasteWater Treatment Plant, Auckland, New Zealand

The Mangere wastewater treatment plant. The Mangere wastewater treatment plant gravity thickener cover project was undertaken by Maskell as a design / build / erect project. The project was completed in 2001, as part of the NZ$360M plant upgrade. The covers are supported around the tank perimeter and centrally via the drive system support column.

The covers are exposed to the aggressive, secondary effluent environment within the tanks and to a saltwater environment externally due to location near the sea. The tank cover design was completed by Maskell engineers in conjunction with consultants. Covers manufactured from teraphthalic polyester resin, E-glass reinforcement with isophthalic gelcoat externally.

The Auckland wastewater treatment plantThe Auckland wastewater treatment plant fixed growth reactor cover project was undertaken by Maskell as a design / build / erect project, completed in 1991. The covers are amongst the largest self supporting GRP tank covers in the Pacific region.

The covers are exposed to the aggressive, aerobic sewerage environment within the tanks and to a saltwater environment externally from the New Zealand west coast. The tank cover design was completed in conjunction with Fibreglass Structures Inc. of Minneapolis, USA. Covers were manufactured from isophthalic polyester resin, E-glass reinforcement with isophthalic gelcoat externally.

The North Shore wastewater treatment plantThe North Shore wastewater treatment plant sedimentation tank cover project was completed by Maskell in 2001. The clear access hatches allow inspection of the spray nozzles within the tank and the complete cover may be removed using a lifting frame for tank maintenance.

The covers are exposed to the aggressive, primary effluent environment within the tanks with considerable hydrogen sulphide and resulting sulphuric acid condensate present. Covers manufactured from teraphthalic polyester resin, E-glass reinforcement with isophthalic gelcoat externally.

The Pimpama Waste Water Treatment PlantFibreglass (FRP) tread plate panelsThe Pimpama Waste Water Treatment Plant was upgraded in 2007 to include a recycling plant.

The covers are exposed to the aggressive, secondary effluent environment within the tanks and to strong sunlight (UV) externally. The tank cover design was completed by Maskell engineers.

There were two covered areas, the inlet channels and works covered with flat GRP chequer plate, area 90m2.Then the bioreactors covered with segmented domed covers spanning up to 12m total covered area 535m2. Additional items supplied were inlet vents and dampers fabricated in GRP and PVC.
