PROJECT HISTORIES - TANKS
LARGEST DIAMETER GRP TANKS IN NEW ZEALAND
Anchor Products, Te papa, Hamilton. New Zealand
In may of 2000 due to expansion, a 6.4m dia. 150,000 litre overflow tank was supplied to Anchor Products in Hamilton. On site were two existing steel tanks that had rusted badly, so a decision was made to install a third tank, manufactured in a different material.
The tank was supplied and installed on a new concrete base, with interconnecting piping. The trial was successful and was followed with the installation of two more tanks to replace the existing steel tanks.
The tanks were manufactured in Maskell's Auckland factory located in Mt Wellington, Auckland, and then transported to site where a Maskell crew installed and piped the tanks. It is common for Maskell to both manufacture and install tanks, and so provide a complete one stop shop for chemical and waste storage tanks.
THREE 175,000 LITRE TANKS
Edendale Dairy Company, Edendale, Invercargill, New Zealand.
Three 175m³ fibreglass tanks were supplied to the Edendale Dairy Company in the early 1990’s. These three tanks were the first large fibreglass storage tanks supplied to the Dairy Industry. Since the photo was taken, a fourth GRP Tank has been added to the group. Maskell have since completed the supply of number of 200,000 Litre storage tanks for the New Zealand South Island Dairy Industry. The 4.5m tanks were shifted to their destinations using coastal shipping and local freighter experienced in tank transport.
Once on site, the tanks were installed on concrete foundations in accordance with New Zealand earthquake codes.
