Why are FRP products better than conventional systems like steel and concrete?
FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) products offer significant advantages over steel and concrete:
- Corrosion Resistance: FRP resists corrosion in harsh environments, unlike steel and concrete, which require protective coatings or degrade over time.
- Lightweight: For same Duty and performance FRP is lighter than common materials such as steel and concrete or PE, making transportation and installation easier and more cost-effective.
- Low Maintenance: For most applications washdown maintenance is not necessary.
- Structural resilience: FRP products are structurally engineered and designed to outperform other common material sin challenging environments such as ground movement/earthquake.
- Faster Installation: FRP products are ready for immediate use, unlike concrete, which requires long curing times, allowing for one-lift installation and faster project completion.
- One of the main advantages of FRP is the quick lead times. Maskell general lead time for most complex products are around 8 weeks.
What chemical products can be stored in FRP tanks?
FRP tanks are designed to store a wide variety of chemical products, including:

Why are Maskell tanks not painted or pigmented?
Maskell tanks are not pigmented by default for several reasons:
- Inspection: While pigmenting is relatively easy, it can make it difficult to inspect and uphold our best quality control standards, we keep the tanks unpigmented.
- Durability and Maintenance: FRP is corrosion-resistant and does not need paint to protect it. Avoiding pigmentation means less maintenance over time.
- Customization Options: We do offer flowcoat, gelcoat, or UV coat options upon specific request if customization is required. All our above ground tanks are flowcoated.
Are FRP products Fire Resistant?
FRP products offer better fire resistance compared to PVC, which is less effective in high-temperature environments. While FRP is not inherently fireproof, it can be made with fire-resistant properties:
- Fire Resistance: FRP materials can be treated with fire retardants to improve their resistance to flames.
- Custom Fire-Resistant Tanks: For applications requiring enhanced fire safety, we can custom-make fire-resistant FRP tanks using special resins.
